SSVN Tussen de Torens is the student chess club of Nijmegen. Starting in the academic year 2021-2022, we will host an internal competition every wednesday evening, we will organize a number of tournaments and we'll offer courses! Everyone is welcome: the beer is already cold and the chess clocks are ready to go!You can become a member of our club for circa 25 euros per year. From 2022-2023, it's also possible to join the external competition for an additional fee. You must be a student at the time of joining an you may remain a member of SSVN Tussen de Torens until 3 years after graduation. Becoming a member is possible via the button below!
IMC Grand Student Chess Championship
Tussen de Torens and Noesis will organise a grand student chess championship on the 24th of April with 7 epic rapid chess rounds with a timer of 10 minutes and with 5 seconds increment. Afterwards there will be a price ceremony with drinks!All students are invited to participate, from beginners to masters, that sunday from 11:00 till 18:00 at the Radboud Sportscentre (Heyendaalseweg 141 Nijmegen).
Costs are only 5 euros and you will be able to win a drone, a huge trophy and other cash prizes! Multiple smallers prizes are also up for grabs in different rating categories.

Depending on the amount of people singing up there will be 1, 2 or 3 different groups. This way everyone will be able to play against opponents with similar rating and everyone will have a fun time! The games are unrated

Activities
With regard to chess, the core activity of our club, we will host an internal competition, which will take place on Wednesday evenings between 19.15 and 21.30 in вЂ˜The Yard', at the Radboud Sports Centre. You will be matched with players of your own level, but can play against a different player every week. Apart from that, it's possible to challenge someone else to a game when you want, competitive or not.Furthermore, the courses will be held on Tuesday evenings. Firstly, a beginners course will be organized, so that chess within our club is accessible to everyone. This course will be followed by an advanced course. Later on, those courses will also be available to all sports card holders who want to get acquainted with our beautiful sport.
Finally, SSVN Tussen de Torens had the ambition to host a tournament for all members three times a year!
Besides playing chess, SSVN Tussen de Torens also wants to connect and entertain its members. That is why we aim to organize activities, drinks, outings, and even a real gala. The activities committee will take the lead in this.
